Virginia Beach National opened in May of 1999 as the premier public golf course in the Tidewater Area. A Pete Dye Design with assistance from PGA Tour Hall of Famer Curtis Strange, VB National is a masterful blend of natural grasses, waste areas, rolling fairways and “tour quality” greens. The course has challenged some of the best players in the world in past years as host of the NATIONWIDE TOUR’s Virginia Beach Open. This Par 72 course stretches to well over 7200 yards from the Championship markers, however, five sets of tees offer players of all abilities the opportunity to play within your “comfort zone.” Please join us for a round at Virginia Beach National soon…Challenge your game on a course that has “tested” the pros!

                                 New for 2015…Waste Area Restoration

During the fall months, the waste areas buffeting several of the fairways were renovated & seeded with Tradition Fine Fescue. Based on the traditional fescue varieties found across the world, the grass will present a natural look while offering a more eco-friendly approach to maintaining the golf course. Cut at rough height, the fescue will serve to challenge the player off the tee as the waste areas were originally designed.

Characteristics Of Fine Fescue Grass
  • Fine fescue grass is a cool season grass adapted from the USA north into Canada
  • Fine fescue grass stays green all year if maintained properly
  • Fine fescue grass has good drought resistance
  • Fine fescue is the most shade tolerant of any lawn grass
  • Fine fescue grass requires little maintenance – less water & fertilization
  • Fine fescue grass will thrive in poor soil conditions and requires little fertilization
  • Fine fescue germinate rapidly and establish generally without delay

…New Yardages & added Senior Tees

While the challenge Pete Dye & Curtis Strange created here at VB National has remained, yardages have been shortened for both our mens & ladies tees. Along with new Senior Tees (Gold), players may enjoy the course even more at distances that best suit their game.
